Today (Thurs 9th July) the south west team ran a training even in Tavistock for existing carers, led by a company called Triangle Training. This is what we term as mandatory training and proves to be extremely useful in teaching foster carers how to deal with major and minor accidents with a particular emphasis on dealing with children and babies. There have been quite a few incidents whereby this training has proved to be invaluable and in fact one of our foster carers was involved in supporting a victim of a car crash on her way home from training and was able to utilise her new found skills the very same day!
Both staff and foster carers joined in the training and we are pleased to say that they have all passed. Their first aid qualification will now last for 3 years and is a great one to possess. The Fostering Foundation is now looking into training for our sons and daughters as well as all our young people placed with us.
